Pulau
Ubin is a small island situated in the north east of Singapore and is one of
the last undeveloped areas of the country. The local people still staying in
the dark and there is no such facilities available for daily life, like if you
need anything you need to come to Singapore. So if you are planning to go there
please carry all your stuffs. Anyway still this place is good for its nature
and bird.
There
is a story behind the formation of this island. Pulau Ubin was formed when
three animals from Singapore (a frog, a pig and an elephant) challenged each
other to a race to reach the shores of Johor. The animals that failed would
turn to stone. All three came across many difficulties and were unable to reach
the shores of Johor. Therefore, the elephant and pig together turned into Pulau
Ubin whilst the frog became Pulau Sekudu or Frog Island. One of the most
popular aspects of the island is Chek Jawa, a former coral reef that allows
visitors to get an up-close glimpse at a variety of marine wildlife. There are
several restaurants that specialize in seafood and have amazing views, so don’t
worry about going hungry during your day of exploring.
To
reach to Pulau Ubin u need to catch boat from Changi Point Ferry Terminal. It
will be almost 30 mins boat ride and it will coast you around 2-3$(SGD).
We
started from morning around 11am from Changi Ferry point and it took 30mins (approx)
to reach Pulau Ubin island.
Cycling
is another great way to explore the island. You just need to hire the cycle.
The bicycle rental people are helpful as they will provide you the map of the
island and the road you need to follow during your bicycle trip and the main
places to visit.
We
also did the same, hired our bicycle and took the map from them and started our
journey.
It
was a long journey almost 3-4 hrs riding. During your journey you may get corridors.
or
sometime you need to ride alone.
Sometimes
it may creepy to go through the jungle.
But there is nothing scary. Escape the
hustle and bustle of Singapore and enjoy this 4-hour bike ride through scenic
Pulau Ubin.
After
a long cycle ride it was very important to have good food and we found a good
waterside sea food restaurant.
After
having food we started toward Singapore. It was a really good day with nature.
Bye
Bye pulau Ubin.
